Holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Melbourne, a Master’s degree in Law with honors from the University of London, and a Doctorate from the University of Cambridge. Served as Chair of the Department of Intellectual Property at the University of Melbourne School of Law in 2002.

Participated in all Australian Government advisory committees on various legislations and also worked with the Victorian State Government, Over 20 years of extensive experience providing legal consultation on international law, including matters related to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and other international bodies, Served on several legislative committees in England and Canada, Worked with multiple international law firms in both England and Australia, Acted as a consultant and expert for the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Authored over one hundred peer-reviewed articles and papers on issues relating to international treaties and conventions.
